Company announces availability of Emit II Plus Ecstasy Assay
2005 MAY 23 - (NewsRx.com) -- Dade Behring (DADE) announced that it has received 510k clearance for the Emit II Plus Ecstasy Assay, the company's rapid-screening method for use in detecting the presence of ecstasy in human urine. The Emit II Plus Ecstasy Assay, Dade Behring's newest addition to the comprehensive Syva drugs-of-abuse testing menu, meets laboratory demand for an Ecstasy-specific test that includes a 500 ng/mL cutoff level to satisfy, in part, the proposed U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration drug-testing guidelines.
The new assay is intended to be used as a stand-alone test or in conjunction with the Emit II Plus Amphetamines Assay, which detects MDMA at higher levels than does this new Ecstasy-specific test. "As the leader in drugs-of-abuse testing, we have a responsibility to provide the laboratories with the highest quality assays for the determination of illegal drugs in patients," said Jim Reid-Anderson, chairman, president, and CEO, Dade Behring. "The use of illegal drugs is a serious concern worldwide. Providing the laboratories with another assay that can accurately determine the use of illegal drugs will allow physicians to determine the best treatment for their patients."

There are large, profitable opportunities in the diagnostics industry today. Rapid Diagnostic Tests are highly-sensitive, quick methods for a wide range of needs. They are used for testing fertility, infectious diseases, drugs of abuse, tumor markings and blood glucose monitoring for diabetes.
Laboratory services are available in many formats including cassettes, strips, panels, midstreams, and devices.
Schools and businesses are always striving for a drug-free environment. Rapid Diagnostic Tests for searching out illegal drug use can be very helpful in this quest. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 2002 that public schools are allowed to randomly drug test students in their schools. These tests can be used as a deterrent or a way to seek out students or employees that need help with drug abuse.

There are various accessories on the market for Rapid Diagnostic Testing. They include Latex and latex-free examination gloves, specimen collection cups, temperature strips, biohazard bags, and drug adulteration strips.
OEMs are start-up, private label companies that distribute drug tests. These companies sell many products that are available for rapid diagnostic testing
The demand for less costly, fast, simple methods for diagnostic testing is on the rise. With Medimpex as your partner, we can help your company become a leader in the Rapid Diagnostic Testing market.
